What a yoga teacher training actually costs
Every school publishes its own price and nobody else's, so the obvious question has no straight answer online: is $1,224 a lot for a teacher training, or is it cheap? Below are the real advertised prices of every course listed here, taken from the schools' own pages. Figures as at September 2026.
The full range in Rishikesh runs from $299 to $4,250, but each of those ends is a single listing, and quoting one against the other makes a headline out of two courses. Strip the tails and the middle half of courses sits between $849 and $2,100, a 2.5 times spread for a qualification that is nominally the same. That gap is not explained by hours taught. It is mostly accommodation, group size, and how long a school has been trading.

How this was worked out
Prices are the advertised figures on 40 courses, read from each school's own course page. Destinations with fewer than five priced courses are left out, because a range built on three numbers says more about which three than about the place.
Of 71 teacher trainings listed, 40 state a price. The rest are counted nowhere in the table rather than estimated. Figures are as published, which for residential courses in Asia normally includes a room and meals and in Europe and North America normally does not. That difference explains more of the gap between countries than the teaching does.
The middle half is the 25th to the 75th percentile of the priced courses, interpolated linearly between the ranked prices, and the median is the 50th on the same basis. Any ratio quoted above is between those two percentiles, never between the cheapest and the dearest: max over min is one course divided by one other course, and a single unusually cheap listing can double it. The cheapest and dearest columns are still the true minimum and maximum, because those are facts about what is on offer. They are just not a range anyone should plan against.
